Vi nærmer os nu sommeren 2020, hvor mange af os stadig sidder fast i hjemmetilstand, selvom dele af verden gradvist kommer ud af nedlukningen af pandemien.
Selvfølgelig bragte May os Mors dag og mindedag, men som alle andre i disse dage, vores Diabetes Online Community (DOC) har været meget fokuseret på simpelthen at tackle daglige udfordringer i disse usikre tider. Her er vores oversigt over indlæg, der fangede vores øje den sidste måned uden nogen bestemt rækkefølge:
Mødre fik en festlig nikkelse i lyset af mors dag i en ny podcast ved navn "MamaBetes" skabt af en trio af D-Moms i at tale om deres erfaringer fra forberedelse til graviditet til håndtering af hjemmeundervisning, når type 1-diabetes er om bord.
Vi kæmper alle for at styre denne fortsatte COVID-19-krise, og på JDRF-bloggen udforsker de, hvordan nogle T1D-familier håndterer den nye norm i karantæne - fra telemedicinske aftaler til madlavningstips til, hvordan man finder hjælp, når du har brug for det.
Apropos håndtering af krisetider, Frank Sita på Type 1 Writes har et blogindlæg lige fra hjertet om, hvordan han har det og håndterer disse dage, og den effekt, han har set på hans blodsukker.
Mange i D-samfundet kæmper med den skræmmende statistik - for eksempel at COVID-19 har ramt mennesker med diabetes især hårdt på britiske hospitaler. Renza hos Diabetogenic deler nogle tanker om at håndtere overskrifter, der er skræmmende, diabetesrelaterede eller ej.
Da maj er den mentale sundhedsmåned, dykkede farfar Scott Benner i ”Juicebox Podcast” ned i det dybe mørke af diabetes og depression, og hvordan selvskading kan blive en realitet for nogle. Pas på: Denne er ikke for svag af hjertet.
Vores britiske ven Chris Aldred hos The Grumpy Pumper deler også et inderligt personligt indlæg om sine egne oplevelser på den mentale sundhedsarena, mens han også lever med type 1 og har en søn, der for nylig blev diagnosticeret.
Vi kunne ikke lade være med LOL, når vi så Instagram-billedet af en tank-top med diabetes, der vender pandemimantraet om at "flade kurven" ud på hovedet med et diabetes twist. Pænt gjort, @dia_be_tees!
D-far Tom Karlya stiller spørgsmålet ”Er der nogen?“ Mens han reflekterer over tvungen selvisolering. Han bemærker, at social kommunikation er så nøglen, og tænker over, hvordan børn med T1D derhjemme stadig bliver uddannet, mens de styrer deres diabetes uden for skolens indstillinger.
Vi nyder de nye skærmbilledchats arrangeret af vores venner hos Children with Diabetes (CWD), der rammer en række diabetesproblemer og byder velkommen til en imponerende liste over gæstetalere.
Denne podcast fra Miss Jen Grieves om "diabetes perfektion" og stigmatiseringen af diabetes komplikationer rammer mærket for mental sundhed måned og er værd at lytte.
Det er rørende og vigtigt at læse forskellige POV'er fra dem omkring onlinesamfundet, der deler deres personlige oplevelser med COVID-19. Dette inkluderer et nittende indlæg af en D-mand ved Beyond Type 1 og et fantastisk stykke fra Beyond Type 2 om mangler og forskelle, der findes.
Vi stødte på en britisk-baseret blogger, der delte sin type 2-diabetes og fitnessrejse, og hvordan han formåede at tabe en masse vægt og vende sine T2D-symptomer effektivt og samtidig forbedre sit helbred. Denne “Åh ... Sh-ugar!” indlæg forklarer det hele.
Udtrykket "diaversary" er blevet almindeligt i vores samfund for dem, der markerer jubilæer, da de blev diagnosticeret med diabetes. Vi elsker også sætningen "live-abetes-jubilæum", der netop er opfundet af Jennifer Smith på bloggen Integrated Diabetes Services.
